MSU American Indian students detail challenges support networks

MSU photo by Kelly Gorham. Six American Indians who are students at Montana State University told a group of educators and staff members during a panel discussion Monday that they face unique challenges as minority students but also have strong support systems. The panel discussion attended by about 30 faculty and staff members was meant to provide a forum for academically high-achieving American Indian students to share their successes and find ways to build on those successes. The students who participated come to MSU from several different states and have a variety of majors. A number of the students said they plan to use what they learn at the university to return home to help their communities such as Nicolette Brown a freshman in biomedicine from Fort Washakie Wyo. Brown who is a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe hopes to become a pediatrician so that she can help children.

Adame immediately began to search for information on the law and contacted national media outlets some veteran’s representatives and politicians. Adame said with the exception of Native American Times he was ignored because he thinks the law protecting American Indian military pay is virtually unknown by all. “Two years after I retired I found out that I and every other Native American who claimed the reservation as our homes were illegally taxed. But no one seems to know.

I do not understand the Allison comment but now that you bring it up I think I’ll recognize that raspy voice of Allison even if she is singing “no one”. Raspy but powerful and unique. That’s a signature for me!sanjayafan Wed Mar 25 2009 at 11:39 PM ESTAnoop Dogg will win Indian Idol. I mean American Indian Idol… I mean American Indian Idol. Anoop is twenty times better than Lil Rounds… Anoop is twenty times better than Lil Rounds. Lil just wants to scream and sounded like ordinary. I can’t tell her apart from other divas nowadays. Whether it is Jordin Sparks or Fantasia or Jennifer Hudson. They are all the same to me.
